Hi guys! Ah, I know I am little MIA lately on the blog. But I do usually try to post consistently on IG so feel free to follow me there for more regular updates, @blameitonbarneys. And, if you do already follow me there you probably saw my mini Sephora haul awhile back on my IG Stories! I went to return an item and left with a handful of new items to try- always happens! Some are tried and true products that I know and love and others I was trying for the first time or giving a second chance. Thought I would take to the blog to let you know what I thought of everything!
Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 35- Color 020 Light Beige
Let me start with saying I am not someone who really wears foundation. But 22978 hours of breastfeeding later I kinda got hooked to YouTube makeup tutorials and a lot of people were LOVING this stuff so I wanted to give it a try! I have always been self conscious about my skin (as far as pore size, unevenness etc.) so this was definitely something I was hoping would work as it is supposed to have a ‘pore-refining effet’. I can honestly say that YES it did seem to make my pores look a tad smaller, and really made my face look smoother overall. One thing I wasn’t crazy about is this has a matte finish. I typically use the IT Cosmetics CC cream which leaves much more of a dewy look which I love so going to something with a matte look is a little different for me, not gonna lie. I do feel it made my skin look much more flawless though, which of course I loved! And the best part it literally lasts all day long. Let’s just say, I have been using it a lot since going back to work last week! As for the matte finish I found if I add a touch of face oil (this one is my FAVORITE multi purpose oil) and mix it in with the foundation it give me that dewy look I am used to!
Becca Mineral Blush – Color ‘Flowerchild’
First of all, I LOVE Becca products. I have had one of their highlighters (champagne pop was the shade I had which I really considering re-ordering) which I loved until I broke it to pieces and now can’t really use it – ugh! Sidenote – if anyone knows how to fix this let me know! Anyhow, back to the blush! I wanted to try this because it has so many good reviews and I wasn’t disappointed! It is a peachy pink tone which I love for spring – not TOO pink like some blushes can be. It adds that touch of rosy cheeks you are looking for without going overboard. I also love that if I DO want more color I can build this product nicely.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer – Color ‘Taupe’
Okay this is one I have tried previously and wanted to try it again (thank you YouTube tutorials haha!)… anyhow I guess what I didn’t like about it before I still don’t like about it. I mean don’t get me wrong, this is a GREAT product but for me it just isn’t the best. I usually use their Brow Wiz pencil which works better for me because it is a lot more precise, the tip is super tiny compared to the brow definer which is an angled tip. I have pretty scarce eyebrows so I think this could have something to do with it. I like having the tiny tip that I can add little strokes to make it resemble hair more. I think I am going to keep it just because, but in the future I am going back to the brow wiz.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer – Color ‘Pretty Thing’
This was the item I went to return, I had previously purchased it in the color ‘sugar sugar’ which is a GORGEOUS nude. But, I am no makeup guru and couldn’t figure out how to get that shade to look good on my skin tone. Anyone who has tips on how to rock a nude with fairly pale skin please let me know! So, I exchanged it for something with a little more pigment, which is the shade ‘pretty thing’. I LOVE this shade. It is referred to as a ‘muted rose’ color on the sephora site. I feel like this shade blends better with my natural lip color (they are pretty pigmented already) and looks natural but pretty! I have also been layering it over my Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in ‘stoned rose’ and am OBSESSED!
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Glow Kit
This is a highlighting palette so you get not one, but FOUR highlighters! Again, the reviews on this online were pretty amazing so I wanted to give it a try since I was in need of a new highlighter. The colors this comes with are Bronzed, Tourmaline, Summer, & Moonstone. My favorite is tourmaline – it is a little darker than summer and moonstone but I love the way it looks! I like that I am able to mix different highlighting shades with this palette to create a custom highlight! Definitely recommend this for any ladies who like to highlight!! Also, the shades are much more shimmery in person than on the Sephora website!
I am that girl who actually prefers baby powder as her dry shampoo of choice. It doesn’t hurt that my hair is blonde either because if I am being really real – baby powder actually makes my hair look lighter when it is looking dull! However, I thought I should venture out and try an actual dry shampoo and since I have heard so many good things about this one I wanted to try it! I actually LOVE this stuff. It has a scent which I kind of love because it makes you feel fresher. My main problem with most dry shampoos is that they usually make my hair super stiff and not manageable. I don’t get that from this one – I am still able to smoothly brush through my hair without it feeling super hard and dry. Def will be re-purchasing this stuff when it runs out which will probably be soon due to the fact I have been using it everyday lol!
Some of my other beauty favs:
Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara – This stuff seriously makes your lashes look SUPER long and thick. Have been using for over a year now and it’s my absolute favorite. You seriously need this.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer – I have also been using this one for over a year. Perfect to cover up under eye circles, blemishes, etc. Doesn’t look cake-y or thick, makes you look super natural still.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter in ‘Champagne Pop’ – Absolutely LOVE this stuff. As I mentioned above mine broke but I have to repurchase this because I just love the color and how it applies to the skin. Update – I recently receive their highlighter sample in OPAL and absolutely love this shade too!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer – I recently bought this stuff and it gives you that natural bronze – not that orange color some bronzers give. I love that it isn’t shimmery either – it gives the right amount of color and allows you to build if you want.
What are your guys’ favorite or go-to makeup products?
