The woman’s ‘power suit’ has had quite the resurgence over the past couple of seasons. In fact – when I went to New York Fashion Week last September I was surprised at how many bold colored suits I saw the girls wearing. Mostly with retro boots and cool band tees. This spring the power suit’s little sister – the ‘short suit’ – is having a moment of its own.
Distressed Sweater + Motivational Mondays
Happy Monday babes! I can’t believe how fast these weeks have been flying by. I am working on some really fun projects for the upcoming months and I am super excited to share them with you! For now, I wanted to share this distressed sweater with you guys – you may have seen me post it on my Instagram but it is one of my favorite sweaters right now. Especially here in California, it was 80 degrees yesterday – so this was the perfect layering piece. For you ladies in cooler weather you could pair it with these spanx faux leather leggings, booties, and a cute beanie! I’ve linked the rest of my outfit details for you below – including this cute bucket bag that is on sale right now!
Investing in Versatile Fall Pieces
Being someone who is a little on the short side I always thought I couldn’t wear wide leg pants. Don’t get me wrong, I was definitely rocking my flared jeans in high school but I mean those really voluminous, flowy, wide legged pants. After playing with a few different pairs I started to realize it really comes down to how you style them. You can to do what works for your body and above all, what feels most comfortable. So while some taller women may be able to put these on with some cute little slides I feel they work best with my frame with a little bit of a heel. Doesn’t mean you won’t catch me running around in these, a comfy t-shirt and sneakers, but I also think they will pair really well with scrappy heels and an off the shoulder top.
Pink + Gray Days
It’s hump-day – not sure how it is only Wednesday, feels like it should be Friday already! We have our birthing classes tonight which I actually enjoy going to because we are learning SO much about the birthing process – sometimes a little too much! 😉
This dress I am wearing is from Urban Outfitters and is non-maternity. I sized up to a medium to account for the bump. it is super comfortable and easy to wear. I am tempted to order it in black too – would be so cute with some OTK boots and a leather jacket! I paired mine with my Citizen’s Mark blazer for a more business-chic look. You guys might remember me posting about this blazer earlier this year. It has worked its way into my wardrobe as one of those staples that you can throw on with ripped jeans, dresses, and everything in between! PS – You can get $50 off at CitizensMark.com right now using code ‘BIOB50‘ at checkout!
Seeing Red
Every fashion week, or rather – fashion month, I love to follow along and see what all the designers are bringing to the table. But more than that, I absolutely LOVE looking at all of the street style photos that come out after each city’s fashion week occurs. Especially Paris! Something about street style just absolutely enthralls me – it gets my heart pumping and oftentimes I am in awe of all the amazing looks that are being showcased on the streets even more so than on the runway. I have noticed a few trends popping up this year; it seems to be velvet, denim, pops of leopard print, OTK boots, and last but not least – the color red. I have noticed myself being drawn to pops of red lately more than ever as well, but for me it is more of the poppy red. That bright, catch-your-eye, type of red.
